Welcome to Zara's Chance

Hello, My name is Meghan Bickers, I am the CEO and Founder of Zara's Chance. Zara's Chance was a lifelong dream and project I started at only 17 years old. One day sitting in a coffee shop I pulled out my school laptop and started researching how to open an animal rescue. Obviously it felt too hard, too far fetched and frankly just impossible. I tried to walk away from this dream and follow another career choice. I always found my way back to animal welfare. I spent my time fostering, shadowing at veterinary clinics, dog walking, doing anything just to be close to animals. I focused hard on college and decided to pursue a social work degree. One day right before graduation I found a post on face book asking for someone to help with two feral kittens. After taking them in, treating them medically, raising them, and adopting them out I knew this was everything I had ever wanted to do. In the same month I graduated college and opened up an animal rescue. Zara's Chance started as just me. A 22 year old freshly graduated student with a big dream and absolutely no idea what I was doing. But I was going to make it work. Now just 8 months later we have adopted out 80 animals, grown our team from just 1 to 20! made connections, provided services to the community and taken in over 100 animals. Zara's Chance is the space where everyone gets a second chance, animals and people alike. We are just getting started and are so excited to show you all where we can go.
